You can register for IELTS quickly and easily through our Online Registration Service.
To register, simply follow the steps below:

Please note that IELTS is not recommended for candidates under the age of 16.
2. DECIDE WHICH VERSION OF THE TEST IS RIGHT FOR YOU
There are two versions of the IELTS test:

Read our simple guide to help you decide which version of the test is right for you.
3. CHECK THE IELTS TEST DATES
There is a limited number of places for all our IELTS test sessions. We recommend that you register as soon as possible; the final deadline is two weeks before the written exam date. Note that popular test dates may be fully booked before that.
You can use our Online Registration System to find up-to-date information about test dates and availability of seats.
Please note: Your Listening, Reading and Writing test will be completed on the same day. Your Speaking test may be offered on the same day, or up to a week before or after your main test day. You will receive notification about the date and time of your speaking test one week before the test.
4. REGISTER ONLINE
Use our Online Registration System to book your place on the test. Note that the registration deadline expires two weeks before the test date.
Please ensure you are able to provide the documents in step 5 and are able to pay using one of the payment methods in step 6.
5. PREPARE AND SEND YOUR DOCUMENTS
In the Online Registration System, you will have the option to upload your identity document (passport or valid ID card) into the system. Make sure you have the scan/file ready when making your online application. Attention: The ID you upload/send is the only document accepted for identification on the test date; you will not be admitted to the exam with any other document!
The file must be JPEG, GIF or PNG format (max 1600×1600 pixels and 1.5 MB). For help on preparing/uploading your scan, please have a look at the Document Upload Guidelines. Alternatively, you can also send us your scanned/photographed document via e-mail attachment.
Please also note that candidates under 18 years of age have to supply written consent by a parent or guardian in order to apply for a test place.
6. CHOOSE YOUR PAYMENT OPTIONS AND SEND A CONFIRMATION
The cost of sitting a test is €235. You can pay for your test in the following way:
- online (by MasterCard/Visa) through our Online Registration System.
7. AFTER YOU REGISTER
Once we have checked your document(s) and your payment is booked to our account (instantly for credit card payments, up to seven days for bank transfers), you are sent an automated confirmation e-mail for your test seat, including your access codes to the free online course: Road to IELTS.
We will send you a test details email with the timings, exact address(es) of your test location(s) and further test day information one week before your test date.
IELTS is designed to be a fair test and your English language ability will be assessed objectively, regardless of any special needs that you may have.
We can help you with any special arrangements you require for your test. For example, we offer support for people with visual impairments, hearing difficulties and dyslexia.
Please contact us three months in advance of your test date to find out how you can apply for special arrangements.
If you request a cancellation of your IELTS test more than five weeks before the test date you will be refunded the test fee minus a local administrative charge of €75.
If you want to cancel less than five weeks before the test day, you will be charged the full test fee. To cancel your test date, please complete our Transfer/Refund Form and e-mail it to us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Illness on the test day
If you are ill on the test day we require a medical certificate as well as a completed Transfer/Refund Form within five working days. The test fee will then be refunded minus a local administrative charge of €75.
Test day transfers
One change of test date is possible if the request is received no later than five weeks before the exam.
It is not possible to postpone your IELTS test less than five weeks before the test day. If you do not take the test on the set date, the full test fee will be retained and you would have to make a new registration for a later date, including a new payment.
